Cultural Program

On Monday 28 August, there will be an opening concert at the UFMG Conservatory of Music.

The inaugural concert for the 13th International IAWIS/AIERTI Conference (titled SEDIMENTATION: Towards an archaeology of word and image) broadens the event's focus by exploring the interactions of music and sound with images, words and spatiality through the different configurations of its performances. The relationships forged between the music and audiovisual techniques, digital technologies, theatre, literature, and play create a rich mixture of meanings and expressions which transcend beyond the purely musical quality of traditional notation, thus also broadening the enjoyment and significance found in these performances.

On Wednesday 30/08/2023, the conference organization proposes two optional activities:

1. Cultural tour to the Inhotim Institute

2. Tour to the historical city of Ouro Preto.

Note: the tours will take place on the same day, so you should choose only one of them.

To register, please check the Registration tab.

These activities will require registration and the price is not included in the conference registration fee; it must be paid separately. The exact prices will be announced after the results of the consultation, as they depend on the number of participants.

3. For those who would prefer to stay in Belo Horizonte, we invite you to attend the VivaMúsica Project (lecture and concert):

The concert "Cirandas: Uma Roda de Dança, Música e Poesia" is a performance by UFMG's Group of Cellos (GruVi), in collaboration with circus performers from Brava Escola de Circo. We present a show made up of music and dance in dialogue with text, and with poetry by Cecília Meireles, Paulo Leminski and others. We hope to stimulate reflection about the place that art and imagination occupy, a stimulus to take us beyond everyday life and, at the same time, to be more authentic in our own lives.

Location: Escola de Música's auditorium, at UFMG.
Address: Campus da UFMG. Av. Antônio Carlos, 6627. Pampulha.
Time: From 17:20 to 19:00 (5:20 p.m. to 7 p.m.)
