Travel information Belo Horizonte is located in the southeast of Brazil, at about 600 km from São Paulo and 450 km from Rio de Janeiro. Confins International Airport (CFN) is about 40 Km away from the city center. Transportation

The main public transport used in Belo Horizonte is the bus. There is only one subway line, but it does not go to the university campus!

 

Arriving in Campus:

Coming from downtown, there is only one bus line that enters the UFMG Campus: 5102. However, the Faculty of Humanities (Faculdade de Letras) is just a five-minute walk from the main campus entrance at Av. Antônio Carlos, 6627. There you will find the BRT MOVE – UFMG Station, where many bus lines come from and go to downtown. Further information: BRT-MOVE Map

 

Moving in the city:

The Google Maps service is connected to the public transit system in Belo Horizonte (BHtrans). You can use this service to plan your bus route from and to any place in the city. Just type the departure and destination address and it will inform you in real time which are the possible bus routes to take. 

If you prefer, you can use mobility Apps, like UBER or Cabify. They work very well in Belo Horizonte and for a reasonable price (cheaper than regular taxicabs). Don't worry, these services are legal in Brazil ;-)

 

Accommodation

Although the downtown area in Belo Horizonte offers more options for accommodation, it may take you about 30 minutes (or even more, depending on traffic conditions) to get to the university campus in Pampulha, where the symposium will take place. If you prefer to stay in the downtown area, be sure to plan your time accordingly.

If you want to save time, prefer accommodations close to the campus, so that you can spend less time moving from place to place.
