Márcia Cançado is Full Professor at Faculdade de Letras da UFMG and researcher of CNPq and FAPEMIG. She works in Linguistic area, more specifically in Semantics, Syntax and Pragmatics, since 1995. The main research project is in the Syntax-Lexical Semantics Interface and the Syntactic-Semantic Description of Brazilian Portuguese. She has published papers and supervised dissertations and thesis in these areas. Also she has published the books in Portuguese: Manual de Semântica: noções básicas e exercícios (Editora Contexto), Catálogo de Verbos do PB: verbos de mudança. Vol 1. (co-authored by Luisa Godoy and Luana Amaral) (Editora UFMG,  e-book da Amazon), and  Introdução à Semântica Lexical: papéis temáticos, aspecto lexical e decomposição de predicados (co-authored by Luana Amaral) (Editora Vozes). She is coordinator of the project VerboWeb, a lexical data-base of Brazilian Portuguese verbs and respective syntactic and semantic properties, of free access in the internet.
