Literary and Cultural Studies Center - Mineiro Writers Collection
A permanent exposition and research space that houses archives, collection of books, documents, and objects that belonged to writers, artists and historical figures important to the development of literature and culture in Minas Gerais and Brazil. It was generously given to UFMG by relatives and heirs. In its rooms - conceived from a museographic and scenographic perspective that recreates the work environment of the writers - there are rare and autographed works of Brazilian modernism, manuscripts of published and unpublished texts, periodicals, photographs, works of art, letters , furniture and personal effects. Promoting the transition from individual memory to collective memory, it aims to rescue, preserve and rework the literary and cultural heritage - a continuous effort of generations of researchers in search of new possibilities for reflection and knowledge construction. Located on the 3rd floor of the university library at UFMG's Pampulha campus, it has adequate lighting, ventilation and security systems which, together with the work of librarians and specialized technicians, guarantee the proper conservation and correct handling of these pieces. It also provides meetings rooms and space to conduct research thereby providing assistance to official visitors, cultural and media agencies and on-site consulting using UFMG databases.

Portuguese Studies Center
The Center for Portuguese Studies at the Faculty of Languages, Literature, and Linguistics (FALE) at UFMG was created in the Department of Vernacular Letters in April 1978, during a joint initiative of the then Portuguese Consul in Belo Horizonte, Dr. José Roque Vieira Abranches Jordão and Professor Wilton Cardoso de Sousa, from FALE at UFMG, with the support of Prof. Eduardo Osório Cisalpino, then Rector of UFMG. The first director of CESP was Professor Lélia Parreira Duarte and the first Board of Directors of the Center included distinguished professors such as Wilton Cardoso de Souza, Ítalo Changado (who was the first editor of the CESP Bulletin, now Magazine of CESP), Valmiki Vilela Guimarães and Ana Maria de Almeida.
