The course is specifically designed for foreigners who want to obtain as much knowledge as possible in Brazilian Portuguese in a short amount of time.
The course:
Material: Student's book (not incl. into course fee), handouts, and other media (for example: presentations, videos and writing a blog)
Content: relevant grammar, writing and speaking exercises depending on the level of the course
Teachers: Our teachers are studying for becoming professionals in teaching portuguese for foreigners and will be doing their internship with you.
Class size: between 1 to 25 students.
Schedule: The classes are 4 hours/week and the semester has a total of 52 hours, which lasts about 3,5 months.
The program consists of six levels:
Basic 1: For absolute beginners.
Basic 2: For beginners.
Intermediate 1: For beginners with basic communication, writing and reading skills.
Intermediate 2: For foreigners that communicate in Portuguese and want to improve their oral and written abilities.
Advanced 1: For foreigners that perform very well orally, but need to improve their written skills.
Advanced 2: For foreigners that want to fine tune their Portuguese.
Note: You can take a placement test when you arrive that will determine what class you will be attending.
Dates and Location
The first semester: starting in March (after the Brazilian Carnival) and is ending in June.
The second semester: starting mid of August and is ending end of November.
Enrollment period: Starts approximately 3 month before the beginning of the semester.
Location: Your classes will take place in the faculty of languages (Faculdade de Letras or FALE) at the UFMG campus Pampulha. The exact classroom number will be released on the first day of classes at the entrance of the faculty of languages.
