Biodata

Junia Braga holds a PhD in Applied Linguistics with emphasis on Language and Technology from the Federal University of Minas Gerais, one of Brazil’s most important universities, where she also did her post-doctoral studies. The tenets of her research have been complexity theory, situated learning, communities of practice, as well as the online integration of information and communication technologies (ICT) in large online classes. Ms. Braga has extensive experience in both designing and teaching courses for large classes. She currently coordinates, with Dr. Vera Menezes, a project which offers online courses on reading skills in English to classes with  1,500 students. In addition, she coordinates an itinerant project by which a group of professors, as well as graduate and undergraduate students, present workshops and seminars, around the state of  Minas Gerais,  on the pedagogical  possibilities of ICT and on the  integration of  technology in the k-12 curriculum.
