The
study of John Milton on his “lonely eminence”
has given way to attempts at situating the poet/political
thinker and the other “Miltons” in contemporary
contexts. These contexts involve not only the analysis
of the relation between authorial Milton and his times
and place, but also the textual crisis derived from critical
attempts at “putting the politics back into Milton.”
On this Website, the student of Milton and the Milton
scholar will find links, tools, and archives that approach
the various sides to Milton, from historicism and formalism
to postcolonialism and postmodernism. Milton Studies,
in keep with their apparent diversity, have opened up
to readings, re-readings and misreadings of Milton and
his texts.
