Fábio Bonfim Duarte
I am an Adjunct Professor of Linguistics and Portuguese Language at Federal University of Minas Gerais.
My main research interests include syntactic and morphological theory, and the syntax and morphosyntax of South American languages (Tupí-Guaraní, Jê and Aruák in particular). I am currently researching Case system realization in the following languages: Tenetehára, Ka`apor, Maxacali, Apâniekra, ParkateJê, and Apinajé. The main focus is to understand the grammatical properties of the ergative system in the Jê languages and the nature of the Split-S systems that are pervasive in Tenetehára and Ka`apor. Additionally, I am involved in projects of documentation. One of the goals is to write a descriptive grammar of Terena and Tenetehára.
I teach courses on syntax, morphology, and field methods, in addition to introductory-level courses on language and linguistics.
My CV is available in Portuguese and in English.
